Kwon-Kyun Chung


Mr. Chung has 20 years of energy experience in development, finance and M&A advisory (over 2,000 MW and USD $4 Billion in financing in power). For the past 9 years, he has focused solely in the renewable power sector and most recently was the Head of Development for Nippon Solar Services (NSS) in Japan, a portfolio company of the fund managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. In Japan Mr. Chung developed and acquired a pipeline of over 200MW of utility scale PV solar assets spread throughout Japan which led to the construction, interconnection and operation of two projects and 6 projects under development to start construction. Prior to NSS, he was at Soltage where he developed and financed over 100 MW of solar that included the sourcing and management of all direct equity, tax equity and debt funding in the US. Prior to Soltage, Mr. Kwon was with Alinda Capital Partners, where he was responsible for the origination of investments in energy and infrastructure projects in excess of $2 billion including the acquisition of four utilities, the purchase of a subsidiary of a leading gas utility in Canada and developed a waste water treatment plant in California. At Sithe Energies, he developed, negotiated and arranged the financing of the construction of one of the largest merchant power plants in the US (1,500 MW). Prior to Sithe, he worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein advising and financing over $2 billion in power transactions. Prior to Dresdner, he completed over $1 billion of project debt for power assets at WestLB. Mr. Chung has his BA from Columbia University and a Master’s degree in International Affairs with a concentration in International Finance from Columbia University.
